Performance
At Oiseau, we believe that nurturing musicians not just in their technical prowess but also in their ability to captivate an audience and share their passion for music is of the utmost importance. Every performance is an opportunity for students to spread their wings and soar to new heights!
We currently offer two concerts per year free of charge for all Oiseau Music students and highly encourage our students to participate in festivals and exams throughout the year around the Toronto area.
A Montessori
Approach
At Oiseau, we cherish the curiosity and eagerness of children. Inspired by Maria Montessori's philosophy, we strive to cultivate this innate wonder through play. Just as doodling is to art, improvising is to music—a journey of exploring creativity. In our beginner lessons, we encourage children through games and exploration on the piano, fostering a love for discovery over rigid instruction.
Production, Mixing and Composition
We're excited to now offer DJing, Music Production, and Composition classes for students interested in creating and performing music in new, modern ways. Using powerful tools like BandLab and Logic Pro, students will learn to craft their own beats, mix tracks, and compose original works—expanding their musical voice beyond traditional instruments.

We recently relocated to Toronto and were looking for a piano teacher for our two children. They had already taken lessons and were enjoying piano a lot so we wanted to make sure we found a teacher who would continue to inspire them to have a passion for music. After asking around a lot, we finally found David and it's it’s been a great experience! He is a wonderful piano teacher and our kids genuinely look forward to their lessons every week. We have had teachers in the past who used a very boring, repetitive approach, and that is not David. My son loves improvising for part of his lesson, and he is great at encouraging him and pushing him further every week. We love that he comes to our home and can see both of our kids in one evening. It’s also clear that he tailors the lessons to each of our kids individual learning styles, which is much better for them than a "one size fits all" approach. Plus, he's a really nice guy and my kids always say so after each lesson. We highly recommend David!

If you’re looking for someone who is a very experienced and knowledgeable piano teacher look no further! David is not only extremely passionate about teaching, he is also wonderful with kids! My little boy is always very excited for his piano lessons and I love that he practices at home without me even telling him to. David is the best!!

Well-Rounded Musicians
Oiseau is unique in it's approach of integrating both jazz and classical studies into it's curriculum.
Jazz musicians are flexible, knowledgeable in theory, with sharp ears and honed improvisational skills. Classical musicians excel in sight-reading, technique, interpretation-building, and have an incredibly refined technique.
Our advanced students learn to possess all of these skills.
Applied Theory
We consistently apply the fundamentals of theory to repertoire our students are learning.
Interpretation
Our students' learn to convey emotion and expression through musical performance, utilizing dynamics, phrasing, and articulation.
Technique
We develop the physical skills and coordination required to play effectively at a high level.
Improvisation
Our students learn to put theory, technique, and interpretation into practice by coming up with their own music in real time.
